Algorithmic Mood Shaping

You don’t choose the mood. The feed does.

This installation looks at how social media algorithms quietly shape mood, attention, and behavior over time. Feeds are designed to keep users engaged, often prioritizing emotionally charged content that creates feedback loops of stress, comparison, or overstimulation. What starts as casual scrolling can turn into repeated exposure that reinforces certain emotional states without users realizing it. By turning these invisible systems into something visual and physical, the piece aims to make those patterns easier to notice. The goal isn’t to reject technology, but to build awareness and encourage more intentional interaction with digital spaces. Taking a moment to pause and recognize how the feed is constructed can help users better understand its impact and regain a sense of control over their attention.
