School Gun Violence Epidemic
Every Child Deserves to Come Home
School gun violence has become a critical and escalating crisis in the United States, profoundly affecting students, families, and communities. The issue has grown so severe that firearms became the leading cause of death for children and teens in 2019. Over 394,000 students have experienced gun violence at school since Columbine in 1999, reflecting the long-term and widespread impact of these tragedies. School shooting injuries and deaths have increased significantly over the past 50 years, demonstrating a troubling upward trend. These events lead to trauma, disrupted education, and lifelong consequences. The issue underscores the urgent need for awareness, prevention, and collective action to protect students.
