Dream Job: Advertising in the gaming / entertainment industry
Nolan was born and raised in Southern California, though currently located in Augusta, Georgia. He will be graduating in May of 2025 with his Bachelors of Science in Design with Academic Honors from Arizona State University. He started off his journey at Sacramento State University where he studied Anthropology but realized he had a love and talent for design. He moved to be with his partner in Georgia and thought it would be a good time to begin a new chapter and pursue something that he loved. In his free time he enjoys being in the greater outdoors camping and hiking in all seasons. He occupies his downtime by journaling and reading books with special interests in fantasy and thriller novels, though secretly likes to waste his time on video games.

Unlocking Luck Or Losing Control?
This project examines how loot boxes in gaming act as a gateway to gambling. Research shows that 71% of gamers aged 16–24 have spent real money on loot boxes, with 45% of these individuals showing signs of problem gambling. Furthermore, studies reveal that 13% of loot box spenders spend over $50 per month on in-game purchases, increasing their risk of developing gambling-like behaviors. My mission is to combat the predatory practices of loot boxes in video games, raise awareness about their potential to foster gambling problems in young gamers, and advocate for stronger protections.
