Lydia is a Graphic Design student based in New Mexico, graduating with a BSD in Graphic Design in May 2026. With 14 years of service in the United States Air Force, she has held multiple Wing-level design roles, in addition to civilian positions as social media manager, logo designer, and freelance designer for local non-profits and veteran-owned buisnesses. Her experience has strengthened her ability to create strategic, mission-focused visual communication across digital and print platforms. Passionate about supporting local and small communities, Lydia is especially interested in brand identity and packaging design for small businesses. After graduation, she aims to work with a small design firm where she can collaborate closely with clients and craft thoughtful, impactful visual brands that help businesses grow and connect with their audiences.

Mass Incarceration
Mass Incarceration: The system is broken, and it’s breaking America
Mass incarceration in the United States creates serious community harm. People who are incarcerated and their families face court fees, fines, lost income, and limited job opportunities after release. These barriers often lead to long-term financial instability and cycles of poverty. Entire neighborhoods are affected as households lose wage earners and economic mobility declines. The system does not impact all communities equally. People of color and marginalized groups are disproportionately arrested, sentenced, and incarcerated, deepening existing social and economic inequities. As incarceration rates increase, communities experience strained family structures, reduced stability, and fewer local resources.
