Marissa is a Graphic Designer based in Washington state who will be graduating with a BSD in Graphic Design in May 2026. She completed an internship at Skagit Farmers Supply in Summer 2025 where she was able to work one on one with seasoned graphic designers. She was able to learn some insights within their marketing department, advancing her analytical skills as well as her design skills. In her spare time, Marissa loves spending time outdoors, traveling, coaching and hanging out with her friends and her dog.

Many owners underestimate the time, financial cost, and emotional commitment required, which can lead to pets being surrendered or abandoned when difficulties arise. Common reasons for giving up pets include behavioral problems, lifestyle changes, financial strain, or lack of preparation. These choices not only harm individual animals but also contribute to larger community issues, including rising numbers of stray animals and overcrowded shelters. Ultimately, irresponsible ownership places emotional, physical, and systemic burdens on both pets and communities.
