Plant Native
The Joy and Need for Native Planting
What inspired Marcela to focus on this issue, is their time living as a tenant of a house with a small front “garden”. From bare empty soil, to a few (native) plants added, they saw how much of a difference it made. Where there was stillness, there were now butterflies constantly visiting. Despite there being National Parks and other protected land areas, they are too small and too far apart for preserving native species at the level they need. Environmental destruction through events, like urban and suburban sprawls, exacerbate the biodiversity issue. By rebuilding ecosystems where you live, work, or play, you can personally take part in addressing this crisis.
